As a part of International Military Music Festival Spasskaya Tower, Red Square hosted a colorful final of the equestrian project Galloping to Rio de Janeiro.
Famous people and celebrities paired with professional athletes, some of whom were candidates for the country's Olympic team, showed their skills performing under the foot tapping music (Pas de deux).
That evening, at the arena in front of the Kremlin, all participants were full of excitement. Bright colors and blinding lights demonstrated that the success of their performances depended not only on the skills of the riders but also on the concentration of their four-legged counterparts.
The jury members unanimously recognized the most harmonious horse dance in the style of Zorro performed by the actor Aleksandr Nosik and the master of sports Marina Aframeeva. From the first minutes the viewers were involved in an exciting action on the arena watching how the passion between the hero in the mask and the Spanish beauty unfolded.
The economist Sergei Karikov literally burst into the arena in a confident gallop securing him the second place. The fragile and airy news presenter Irina Losik took the third place. Later, on her Facebook page, she wrote that that victory had been her "victory over her own fear” of horses - big and strong animals.
The awards ceremony was held under the enthusiastic applause of the audience. The project participants and their trainers were awarded diplomas and cups, and the horses were awarded rosettes.
The project Galloping to Rio de Janeiro started in November of 2012. Within the project, its participants learned how to stay in the saddle, got acquainted with the basics of horseback riding and the equestrian history, held several charity events and truly fell in love with horses.
