Horses are incredibly smart, kind and sympathetic animals. They feel the love shown to them by a horse-owner and they reciprocate. Understanding allows you achieving incredible results. Let us tell you how a resident of Canada after a back injury taught an Arab Steed to do yoga, as well as how a paralyzed German woman, without touching a horse, trained it to do a frieze elements of dressage.
Horse Yoga
A resident of the Canadian province of British Colombia Linda Guanti was 14 years old when she injured her back; to calm the pain she started practicing yoga. The woman was doing classes in the open air in the presence of her pet stallion named Lewis.
The animal showed unusual interest in her hobby and began to copy the asanas. For example, Lewis is able to dip bending the front legs and keeping the back ones straight, then push his head to the ground. A video shot by Linda when Lewis was doing such things in the sand, taking various poses, has gained nearly half a million views on YouTube.
"I was surprised when Lewis began studying yoga. It really likes to perform the asanas, it's great that we have a common hobby and we can spend a lot of time together," she said in an interview with the British newspaper the Daily Mail. According to Linda, the joint gymnastics have strengthened the spiritual connection between her and the stallion.
Contactless dressage
The horsemen world has known about the German Silk Valentin for a long time. She is often cited as an example when they talk about the humane treatment of horses. The woman, being paralyzed, trained her black handsome frieze Biko to do elements of the high school of horsemanship, barely touching it.
Valentin worked with horses by Pat Parelli’s methodology - he was an American rider and rodeo master. His methodology is based on penetration into the psychology of horses and understanding the individual characteristics of different breeds. Silk worked in close communication and a playful manner with her frieze Biko. They say that the stallion even accompanied the woman during her walks to buy vegetables at the market.
Performances that demonstrate a tremendous vitality of a person are invariably accompanied by a storm of applause. Today, Silk successfully trains another frieze named Tonka.
