Great Russian prize (Derby) competition was held at the Central Moscow Hippodrome

Last Sunday, the Central Moscow Hippodrome hosted the competition for the main traditional prizes for horses of the thoroughbred riding breed.
This day is considered to be the holiday of thoroughbred horse breeding. It is the day to identify the best racing horses of all ages. Two-year horses compete for the Grand Prix; three-year horses, for the Derby; stallions of four years and older, for the Prize of the Minister of Agriculture. All the three prizes make up the Russian “Triple Crown".
These three prizes are competed for in all the countries that have the thoroughbred breeding constituting a tradition of more than one century.
This year, the Grand Prix at the distance of 1,600 meters was won by the red stallion Jubilee (Kittens Joy-Elogees) run by the master jockey A. Alberdiyev with the agility of 1.44.1.
The Great Russian Prize (Derby) at the distance of 2,400 metres was won with a large margin by the bay stallion Amonit (Kentucky Dynamite-Sedusante) under the saddle of the first category jockey D. Petryakov with the of 2.35.4.
The Prize of the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation at the distance of 3,200 meters was won by the bay Boss (Sarem-Balansirovka) easily beating the opponents for nearly seven bodies, it was run by the master jockey V. Melekhov with the agility of 3.36.5.
